Frequently asked questions

What is BACJ?

Bay Area Construction Jobs (BACJ) connects construction professionals with companies throughout the Bay Area.

We take the time to understand both the candidate and the employer so we can make better connections. Depending on your background and goals, BACJ may also provide assessment, guidance, training, and career-development support.

Do I need construction experience or a college degree to become a Project Engineer?

Not necessarily. Experience and education are valuable, but requirements vary by employer and position.

BACJ also looks for a strong work ethic, reliability, commitment, and a willingness to learn. For qualified candidates who are new to construction, BACJ and PE Academy can provide training designed to help prepare them for Project Engineer or project administration work.

What does BACJ look for in a candidate?

We look beyond the resume for people who:

  • Bring a good attitude and strong work ethic.
  • Are dependable and follow through.
  • Want to build a long-term career.
  • Are willing to learn and think independently.
  • Take responsibility for their work.
  • Treat coworkers with respect and contribute to the team.

Read our candidate expectations before applying.

Can BACJ help me if I’m already a Project Engineer?

Yes. Tell us about your experience, skills, career goals, and the type of company or position you want next.

Our goal is to understand where you could be a good fit and connect you with appropriate opportunities.

How do I get started with BACJ?
